It seems like eons ago that we first got engaged—when in reality, it was just over a year ago. After the initial excitement and euphoria wore off, the first thing I set my mind on was the stationary. I’m a HUGE stationary-phile and obsess over all the cute notebooks and notepads, so I knew this was going to be one of the processes I was most looking forward to. Let me tell you, I’ve never been so overwhelmed in my life. There are so many routes and avenues you can take to get invitations printed: online, in person, hand crafted, mass produced, calligraphy, graphic design—the options are literally endless!
If you’re interested in my entire wedding budget, feel free to check out this post. As you can see, I was conscious of my budget but also didn’t want to sacrifice on quality, appearance or customizability. After pouring over endless vendors and websites, I finally discovered the perfect place to get wedding invitations that fit all my requirements: Vistaprint!
You may be surprised to discover they do more than just business cards and signage. They also offer a fantastic range of pre-designed wedding stationary—everything from Save-The-Dates to Thank You cards—or, if you’re after something a bit more custom, they have a very talented team of designers available that can create something brand new or help you customize your stationary to match an existing theme or pattern.
I ended up going with a pre-designed suite—I was drawn to the eucalyptus leaves as they matched my natural rustic, Westcoast theme. I loved that my Save-The-Date cards and wedding invitations complemented one another, and was a theme I carried throughout the wedding itself by draping the tables, bouquet, and boutineers with boughs of eucalyptus. I also purchased custom return labels, envelope stickers and place cards with the same theme to tie it all together.
As the wedding day was fast approaching, the long-term forecast predicted high heat and humidity. To accommodate our guests, I quickly whipped up custom fans with Vistaprint that prominently featured our dog’s face on it. It served as an homage to her, as dogs weren’t allowed at the venue, but also was a practical tool for our guests to keep cool.
All in all, the design process for everything was extremely straight forward and time-efficient, even for a non-designer like myself. I will admit, I did make one error on my first round of invitations but thanks to their impeccable customer service, Vistaprint quickly remedied my silly mistake and had new invitations in my hands within 3 days.
I can’t recommend Vistaprint enough for wedding invitations. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process and would go through it again in a heartbeat—it’s that fun! Have any questions or stories of your own to share? Let me know in the comments below!
